Meet Dr. Ring

Welcome. I’m Dr. Melinda Ring

Integrative · Functional · Lifestyle · Medicine

I’m an integrative medicine physician. I direct the Osher Center for Integrative Health at Northwestern University, teach the next generation of doctors, and research the role of food as medicine. For more than thirty years, my practice has been dedicated to integrative health.

Many of my patients sought my support through the perimenopause and menopause transition. Then I reached midlife myself, and understood from the inside what I’d been circling clinically for years: the women I was seeing weren’t failing. They were following instructions written for a body they no longer had. That is the work — and it is what my book, Meno-Laws, is about.

The Stress–Sex Hormone Connection — free guide by Dr. Melinda Ring

If you’ve been told “it’s just stress” or “it’s just menopause,” this guide connects the dots — so you can finally feel like yourself again.

Your stress-hormone system and your reproductive hormones don’t operate independently — they’re deeply, biochemically intertwined, and when one is disrupted the other amplifies it. This is the missing piece of most peri/menopause care, and it’s written for women, not for textbooks.

In this guide, you’ll:

  • Understand how stress and sex hormones interact in midlife
  • Identify whether you’re more “tired-but-wired” or “burned out”
  • Learn practical, evidence-informed steps to calm your stress system
  • Get the questions to bring to your clinician so you’re taken seriously
